That’s something I never used to say when I worked in retail. ![]()
![]()
It had good moments, but I would never have said I loved it. ![]()
![]()
For almost 20 years I’ve been self employed. At first as a childminder, which let me spend time with my new granddaughter as her mum went back to work. I was free to go places and take the kids on outings etc. However the downside was, no tea breaks, no lunch breaks and you certainly couldn’t go to the loo on your own, heaven forbid a wee tot thought they were alone because you closed the toilet door. ![]()

I absolutely enjoyed doing what I did. Watching kids grow from babies to school age and being an important part of their lives, often spending more time with them than their parents. ![]()

Whilst doing that I was also free to study to become a hypnotherapist and later saw my clients in the evenings, often after doing an 11 hour shift with kids. It was good having adult conversations. ![]()

For 6 years I maintained both jobs but the fun was starting to go from the childminding one, it was tiring, plus I certainly wasn’t getting any younger. ![]()

Then the pandemic hit. I was fortunate enough to be able to make the decision to leave my childminder role, with some encouragement from one of my great friends and coach, Lisa Clifford. She helped me set some goals and I achieved them before our agreed date, because I was determined to make it happen. ![]()

Now I focus on serving my therapy clients 💯 and have even managed to bring in an almost perfect life/work balance, which means during school holidays I can take the time to spend with my grandchildren and make some wonderful memories for all of us. ![]()

I love my job because I get to do the thing I’ve always wanted to do, help people but also be a wonderful granny. ![]()

Yesterday I got to take my handsome grandson for hot chocolate. ![]()
